Netflix has unveiled a new true crime limited documentary series titled “Beauty and The Bester,” which explores the rise and shocking downfall of Dr. Nandipha Magudumana.
The celebrity doctor captured public attention in 2023 when questions emerged regarding her involvement in the elaborate escape of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester from prison. This three-part series aims to address a pressing question: How did one of the nation’s most revered figures become entangled in one of the largest criminal scandals in the country?
The saga began with a viral image of the pair shopping casually at Sandton City, which sparked a nationwide manhunt, a dramatic arrest in Tanzania, and their subsequent extradition back to South Africa.
The series will include courtroom footage, previously unseen investigative materials, and interviews with friends and family. “Beauty and The Bester” is set to stream starting September 12, 2025.
