Limpopo police have apprehended a 31-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 23-year-old pregnant girlfriend near Marble Hall in the Leeufontein RDP section. Reports indicate that the victim, who was four months pregnant, was discovered with multiple stab wounds on Wednesday morning.
A police spokesperson revealed that the deceased had previously filed assault charges against the suspect, which she withdrew last month. “The suspect was arrested in May 2025 for assaulting the victim and made several court appearances at the Groblersdal magistrate’s court. However, the victim submitted a statement to withdraw the charges, resulting in his release in July 2025,” the spokesperson stated.
In this recent incident, community members alerted the police to a female victim injured in the Leeufontein RDP area. Upon arrival, officers found her in a pool of blood with numerous injuries. She was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
Authorities determined that the woman was in a relationship with the suspect, who fled after the attack. He was arrested on Wednesday morning after police received a tip about his location in Elandskraal.
Limpopo’s provincial police commissioner, Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe, condemned the persistent violence against women and children in the province. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Groblersdal magistrate’s court on Thursday.
