In Maphumulo, two suspects were shot dead during a confrontation with police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Law enforcement officials were acting on intelligence regarding a supposed scheme to assassinate a member of the South African Police Service (SAPS), which directed them to the rural area near KwaDukuza.
Upon approaching the identified homestead, the suspects reportedly opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Authorities recovered a firearm at the scene.
The two men were also wanted in connection with a prior attempted murder case involving a police officer.
Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during this incident.
