Gwede Mantashe has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Police by President Cyril Ramaphosa, effective immediately.
Mantashe will hold this role until the beginning of August, when Prof. Firoz Cachalia, set to retire from the University of the Witwatersrand at the end of this month, takes over the position.
He will continue to fulfill his duties as Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources during this period.
