In a series of police shootouts over the past two days in Inanda and Umzinto, KwaZulu-Natal, six suspects have been fatally shot. These individuals were connected to various serious offenses, including multiple murders and armed robberies. One of the deceased was allegedly wanted for nearly 20 murders.

On Thursday night, a murder suspect tied to a string of violent crimes was killed during a confrontation with police in Umzinto. According to police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the Provincial Crime Intelligence, alongside the Metro Police Trio Crimes Unit and SAPS Durban North, located the suspect at a property on Malibu Drive while attempting to execute an arrest warrant.

When officers surrounded the residence, the 27-year-old suspect reportedly opened fire. Police returned fire, resulting in his death; he was found with an unlicensed firearm and was linked to at least 17 cases, including nearly 20 murders.

In another incident, Netshiunda reported that police, acting on intelligence, located a second suspect wanted for murder, three counts of attempted murder, and business robbery. The suspect was cornered along the Etafuleni main road, where he allegedly fired at the officers, prompting a shootout. He was also found with a firearm.

Additionally, during a third operation, police pursued suspects believed to be involved in murders, attempted murders, and house robberies in Inanda. Officers conducted a raid on cottages along Dr. Langalibalele Road, where the suspects reportedly opened fire. Police returned fire, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. Three firearms with filed-off serial numbers were recovered from the suspects.

Police sources indicated that one of the suspects had allegedly committed a murder during a business robbery near Dube Village earlier that same day. Fortunately, no officers were injured in any of the incidents.
