Toyota sues the KZN Municipality for their loss due to floods back in 2022

In the increasingly challenging Automotive industry, Toyota South Africa Motors has filed a R6.5 billion lawsuit against the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government, Transnet, and the eThekwini Municipality. The legal action follows the company’s loss of assets due to flooding in 2022. Toyota alleges that the authorities should have anticipated the disaster through their weather monitoring systems and informed the public accordingly. The damages were severe, impacting their Prospecton plant located in KZN.
