Cic Julius Malema denied Visa into the UK again.

Published:

Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has been denied a visa to the United Kingdom due to his perceived extremist views and provocative language. The UK Home Office’s decision, communicated to Malema through a letter, highlights his public endorsement of Hamas, a recognized terrorist group in the UK, and previous statements that could be interpreted as encouraging racial conflict. Specifically, the Home Office pointed out Malema’s 2016 statement suggesting that the EFF was not advocating for violence against white individuals “for now,” and his testimony in the Equality Court in 2022 where he did not rule out the possibility of making such calls in the future, stating, “I cannot guarantee that I won’t say it. I am not a prophet.” Furthermore, his remarks made in October 2023 outside the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria, where he promised to support Hamas if his party came to power and justified a Hamas-led attack on Israel as “legitimate resistance,” were cited as examples of behavior deemed as “not in the public’s interest.” According to UK immigration regulations, individuals can be refused entry for inciting or glorifying terrorist acts or promoting racial animosity. This incident represents the second instance where Malema has encountered visa restrictions for the UK, with a previous delay in May 2025 for an application to attend a conference at Cambridge University, which he alleged was politically motivated.
