A tragic incident occurred in Brakpan on the East Rand, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy due to a collision with a pedestrian allegedly caused by a 12-year-old driver who reportedly disregarded a stop sign. The accident took place at the intersection of Northdene and Madeley streets around 1.45pm, prompting the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) accident bureau officers to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead by paramedics. The vehicle involved, a Mazda, driven by the 12-year-old suspect, was also found at the scene. The driver was handed over to the Brakpan police accompanied by his guardian. The minor is set to appear in the Brakpan magistrate’s court in the near future.
