A devastating crash occurred on the R63 roadway between Adelaide and KwaMaqoma last Saturday, May 3rd, claiming the lives of 15 people and seriously injuring five more.
Unathi Bingo, representing the Eastern Cape transport authority, confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of the disaster.
“Preliminary information indicates a white Quantum vehicle, traveling from Qonce (King Williams Town) towards Cape Town, was involved in a head-on impact with an Isuzu double-cab traveling toward KwaMaqoma from Adelaide. The driver of the Isuzu died instantly, and 13 passengers within the Quantum, including their own driver, were later confirmed deceased at the scene.
“After the incident, six injured Quantum passengers were rushed to the Provincial Hospital for treatment; regrettably, one of those individuals later died from their injuries.”
