Law enforcement in Zonkizizwe, Gauteng, apprehended two individuals, ages 32 and 43, for armed robbery near Suikerbosrand on the R550 on Friday, April 11, 2025. A third man, aged 42, met an untimely end following an incident through a rear window. The initial traveler had flagged down a red VW Polo on the N3 in Vosloorus, accepting a lift from the trio. However, the driver diverted course, and the other suspects brandished knives, demanding valuables. They relieved him of his wallet containing money. Unbeknownst to them, he possessed a firearm, which he promptly displayed. He discharged his licensed weapon, mortally wounding one suspect and inflicting serious injuries on the other two. They were swiftly detained, currently hospitalized under police surveillance, while the third was pronounced deceased at the location. The injured now face charges of Armed Robbery, and their okapis are now in custody.
